Here it is, in all its gorgeous glory, the first Rabid Lamb guest strip. Adam tends to be more about beautiful cartooning and artistry and details while I am more about the writing or the “joke”. Sadly, even if I had the skill he does, there is just no way I could measure up to the standard he has set with this strip in a daily comic, there just aren’t enough hours to set aside for it. He has promised to do another one soon though…so feel free to hassle him until he gets it done. Additionally, Adam has a great blog of his own, that is mostly about film, although a few other things slip in there on occasion, which I urge everyone to check out: www.dudehesthestallion.wordpress.com.
Also, coming on Monday, Adam has drawn a great mascot for Rabid Lamb Comics, so I’ll be assembling the new logo over the weekend…it should premiere with Monday’s strip. There are also some book reviews coming up that will post today and over the weekend I think…

More “artsy” than yours, but less “funny.” Guess I can compliment and insult two people all in one sentence!
Anyway, looks nice. Can’t wait to see the new logo. And speaking of film, my daughter actually stopped playing and sat down to watch The Boy With Green Hair the other day. Scary. Scarier still, I watched it too. Scarier than that, the boy was non other than Dean Stockwell.

Nice ink work, but I don’t think it was meant to be “funny.” Was it? Maybe just a statement on how hard working hair stylists are? Is that it?

I think its funnier if you know Kelly. The quality of her hair has a definitive impression on her mood and can last long amounts of time if not addressed quickly. To me the ‘joke’ is really in the first and last panels to see the before and after images and how the middle two frames could have such a drastic effect.
I think Adam accurately captured Kel’s deflated look. I have never seen her in the chair after the hairdo, but I imagine it looks something like that. Nicely done Adam.

TK42ONE: Yeah, I mean, that’s definitely what Adam is going for…I’d go for more beautiful and artsy if I could…it’s just not in me, especially for a quick turn around.
I haven’t seen The Boy With The Green Hair, but it sounds pretty intense. Did your daughter like it? Did you?

Scott: I think you nailed it. I’m glad you enjoyed his strip and “got it” – maybe it is easier to “get” on a different level if you have an insider track into me or Adam (as you do) but I think even if you don’t know either of us (or of my obsession with my hair) he has still managed to draw (and ink) a really beautiful cartoon, that can just simply be that – a brilliant beautiful cartoon. Adam draws on a lot of rich history when he cartoons, with nods to many different masters, and I think his work here is brilliant, some of the best stuff I’ve seen him do actually…

Very nice! Excellent line work.
I got it all along, knowing that journal comics like ours, while time to time are humorous or slanted to be more funny than normal, they do not exist as mere jokes. I’ll still never understand women’s hair. That’s why I like ‘em with nice, short hairdos…

Paul: I know the artist in you can appreciate the same thing that I see – really beautiful stuff isn’t it? And as a journal comic creator, you just naturally “get” what he’s doing as well.
I guess people like jamminjabber (below) are a bit less educated.

Its alittle bit money. Does the quality of the comic explain the lack of movie posts? Was Adam’s creative soul sucked by the arachnidian hairdresser? You worn out by drawing this, big guy?
