Somehow this whole bit seemed funnier in my head than how it came out. Sigh. Isn’t that always the case? Anyway, we are drawing to a close on the sequential strip, maybe Monday and Tuesday to close things out…we’ll see. I hope you’ve all enjoyed it, I’ve been a little frustrated that the comments have been kind of less for this arc, but feedback has been positive, so maybe we’ll do one again sometime soon.
As for the real world, anyone on here who knows where I work in Manhattan (very few of you I’m sure) – I did not die in this crane collapse on 91st Street and First Avenue (the exact street I work on and about half a block away from my office building). It’s making work kind of impossible and I’m the only one in the office (and they’ve closed the street since I got through this morning so I may be the only one here all day), but all my people, and it appears all our sister office’s people are accounted for, so we’re all quite lucky actually.
What a start to the weekend.
I really wish I’d been able to take more time with today’s strip. I would have loved to show her (me?) reducing in size etc., with more drama and over a longer period of time…it would have been much more interesting/funny/powerful, alas, no time… 
Here’s my submission for Illustration Friday: Worry. I liked this one, even though I hate warts (who doesn’t really?) But he’s all surly and sarcastic, which almost makes me like him.
As Paul pointed out in the comments section yesterday, at least you can all say you’ve learned how to hail and negotiate with a livery cab driver in New York (though I caved perhaps too easily, after a long day twenty bucks seemed reasonable to escape Madison Avenue for the comforts of home).
We’ve got a few more days of sequential work coming…I expect to finish up this particular storyline on Monday or Tuesday. What do you think? Do you like the continuing storyline…or not so much?

For the non-New Yorker’s out there – in panel three “balloon Kelly” is trying to hail a cab and is approached by a ‘livery cab’. These are legitimate cabs (well mostly) but they don’t have a meter, so you need to negotiate a price before you get in. Also, to give you some perspective, the metered cab ride that I took from my neighborhood to this event (in heavier traffic headed downtown than I would get headed uptown) cost about twelve bucks, and I gave him fifteen bucks, so even with a good tip, that trip shouldn’t be more than fifteen dollars. Livery cabs generally cost a little more, but not double.
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Mine blew. What a shock. Onto the next, right?

Oy. I hope everyone has an awesome three day weekend planned. I plan to write write write. And maybe dinner with friends on Saturday and writing group on Sunday. I cannot wait for three whole days of freedom.

Yes, the beginning of the actual “serial strip”…I can’t believe it either.
I hope you all had a good weekend. It was Adam’s birthday this weekend so I took him out to dinner on Saturday night to Pearl Oyster Bar downtown which was an awesome success (and as a special bonus I had a fabulous Lobster Roll – yay!). We also went to see a movie that he liked and I loved called Reprise. It’s a Danish film (well actually it’s set in Oslo, but the director is Danish, so I’m going to stick with Danish). Nevermind, I just looked it up and it is a Norwegian film, though the director is Danish. Anyway, it was wonderful. We also watched a fascinating documentary called Deep Water about the 1969 Sailing Race Around the World – the first ever attempt for a single sailor to sail the world without stopping. The documentary is focused on the sad and shocking tale of Crowhurst, the dark horse English competitor. The documentary was in no way perfect, but the subject matter was completely riveting. That was about it, except for cleaning the house and waiting around for pieces of Adam’s birthday present (a new computer) to arrive.
You know, I started to feel bad about panel four in the middle of drawing this comic, because maybe there are people out there with some horrible disease where they lose their toenails and now there is a revolutionary cosmetic procedure to replace lost real permanent toenails with fake permanent toenails. And then I remembered that I was trying to draw a humorous strip and so I said, “To hell with sensitivity! To hell I say!”
And so here we are.
Next week is going to be a new experiment on Rabid Lamb Comics in that I had this thing (really SOME things) happen to me on Wednesday that I want to draw a comic about, but it’s just too “epic” (not really) to fit into four panels. So next week I will be trying out a real honest to gods serial comic strip…meaning it will be “to be continued” onto as many strips as it takes to tell it. I think it will probably take the whole week to get it all out. Anyway, that is something to look forward to, or to dread, y’know depending on whether you’re a glass half full or half empty kinda person…
Illustration Friday submission for Electricity! I like how this one turned out, but as usual with how things look in my head, versus how I can get them on the page, it’s not even close to what was in my imagination. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) you guys can’t see how awesome this looks in my head. I’m really enjoying the challenge of Illustration Friday though, it’s giving me a chance to think (and draw) outside the ‘Rabid Lamb Comic Strip’ box… 
Yeah, honestly…HOW DO THESE PEOPLE FIND ME?! Why does typing in “How To Be A Good Receptionist” (or Prostitute) lead ANYONE to my blog?! Sigh. Sometimes I just don’t understand the interwebs. But it does make for good comics…
My super secret (and awesome) deadline is today. And I made it. Barely. And I’m exhausted. But I made it, so let us focus on that.
Sidenote: I admit I’ve used the word whore on this blog a few times (okay, okay, with alarming frequency), but I don’t know that I’ve ever used the word ‘Prostitute’…it sounds almost old-fashioned, like if we lived in simpler more innocent times 
I could have tried to draw a rabid lamb in panel three, but instead I decided on shameless self promotion. Can you blame me? It was both easier and more rewarding…a win win! Whoo. I’m on a big deadline (must be postmarked by tomorrow) AND I have to go to a work event tonight, so I’m under lots of time pressure lately, but I promise to put more effort in as soon as the deadline passes. Thanks for hanging in there!

It’s a great idea, inspired by things like Project Runway; the (semi-recent) Batgirl Meme; and all sorts of great things that run wild on the internet in regards to art and superheroes. It reminds me of Illustration Friday in that it plays on that same creative internet spirit that unites and actually evens the playing field for artists both known and unknown, but it’s a little more developed and complex (read: I won’t be participating anytime soon…but maybe someday). Also there are prizes! Definitely check it out when you have a free handful of moments.
People look up some weird stuff on the interweb man. I mean, I’m sure I’ve looked up some things that might seem bizarre to someone who didn’t know what I was looking for, but “Mila Kunis Wikipedia”? What the hell?
Anyway, apologies to Mila for the bad representation of her here, I tried, but since it was my first time drawing her, well, she pretty much doesn’t look anything like her.
Speaking of Mila Kunis, did anyone out there see Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Adam and I saw it with Kyle when he was in town, and I heartily recommend it. I wasn’t expecting much, but I thought it was great. Really funny stuff. For my money it was definitely better than Superbad (which I didn’t love) and it was maybe even better than Knocked Up (although nothing is funnier than that scene with Paul Rudd and the chairs in Knocked Up – which used to be available on YouTube, if you want to see it again or never got the opportunity – hilarious!). Anyway, I gave Forgetting Sarah Marshall four netflix stars. Check it out if you haven’t yet.
Update: Apparently there are some people that don’t even know who Mila Kunis is (ahem…Paul) so here’s a picture, so that it might jog your memory. She is currently starring in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (as noted above) and she was also Jackie on That 70’s Show for like…100 years…
Yes Anna Paquin, I know, I know. I’m just making the world a more horrible place, and sending more and more people that are just looking for gratuitous celebrity nudity to my blog (where they will ultimately be disappointed)…but what can a girl do? I’m desperate for a good strip these days…no pun intended.
My weekend was pretty much a bust. I got two important errands done on Saturday, and I managed to write about 2,500 words on Sunday (yes, took me ALL day to get my ass in the chair at 5pm and write 2,500 words) but I got nothing else done. I didn’t accomplish even a third of my to do list…which leaves me with a deadline to meet by Wednesday…that is going to be nigh impossible. But wish my lazy ass luck anyway. How about you guys? Good weekend? Bad? C’mon, make me feel better…

Do yourself a favor and watch the whole thing (it’s about four minutes long) as it is well worth it and gets funnier and funnier as the story progresses.

Have a good weekend everyone. I have SO much to do this weekend, but it’s mostly stuff I love (except cleaning my apartment) so I’m hoping it will be a super productive weekend. I’ve looked at the upcoming list of “phrases people use to find my blog” and some of you are in for a treat. Good stuff coming up.
